0-5 分钟 · Blind Listening(盲听)

1. Who is talking? 2. What are they talking about? 3. What happened / what is the main point?

5-10 分钟 · Accent Mapping(口音映射)

- 在 accent_observations.md 里记录: - What I heard(你听到了什么音) - Actual phrase(对照后真实原文) - Error type(P/B/S/V/G/A/K)

10-18 分钟 · Long Chunk(长段跟随)

Miss it. Drop it. Keep going.

做法: 打开本目录 transcript_en.txt(官方原文;Day39 为 AUTO_GENERATED 版)。

把最难的 3 个片段写进 difficult_segments.md

Basically, they were talking about… At first… Then… The main point was… In the end…

Daily Score

  • Accent Adaptation Score(1-10):____

Shah Rukh Khan

First welcome Mr. Beam Probot

for the first time in India,

and yes, Mr. Sundar Pichai.

(Music)

(Applause)

SRK

Wow! Sundar PichaiWow!

SRK

Yes, fantastic!

Welcome to Ted Talks India Nayi Soch, Sundar, how have you been?

SP

Very very good. It's been a while since I've seen you.

I heard you were doing a Ra-One sequel audition,

that's why I am here.

(Applause and laughter)

SRK

Look ... (Laughter)

Before I start talking with this wonderful innovator

and one of the greatest people from our country,

I would like to thank you personally

on behalf of all of us who had come to your office.

Is everyone OK there?

All those boys and girls were so warm and nice to us.

SP

Everyone is OK. They are still screaming for you

but I've never seen anything like that.

They are all OK.

SRK

OK. Thank you for being here and on this Probot.

Before I start, I just want to know,

would you tell us more about this technology

via which we are able to see you so clearly and without any delay,

just so that the audience gets to understand it.

Well, this is great. It's called Beam.

It allows me to use the robot to move around and see all of you.

As you can see, technology keeps getting better

and hopefully over time we can make it easy,

so that it doesn't matter where you physically are,

you can really be there any place you want to.

SRK

Sundar, you will excuse me, sometimes I may just say a few things in Hindi here

for the audience at home.

Sundar Pichai is 13000 km away from us

and he can see us without lag

He can see you, you can see him

through this technology called Beam, this is the future.

This is a sign of the times to come.

I would like to ask Sundar,

Sundar, what are the chances--

how long before we can actually teleport you through a device like this,

right in the midst here?

Because, like people are screaming in your office for me,

they are screaming here for you.

(Applause)

I think it's still a few years away but we are all working really hard on it.

Hopefully in the next five to ten years, we can make it much much better.

SRK

Ok. You have to promise, when you crack this

you will come here on Ted Talks India the first thing.

First time we get teleported, you get teleported here.

(Applause)

A question that every Indian would like to ask,

I will meet Sundar and ask him this question:

You are in a unique position of being an Indian

who grew up and lived in India,

and are now leading change and innovation for the whole world.

There is nobody else who can answer this question for us.

How is India seen by the world

in terms of people, resources, technology, future, everything,

because you are the right person to ask this.

The great thing about India is, India is over a billion people,

people are the most important resource of any country

and people have always had this promise of India.

But I think now India is living up to its promise,

it's really exciting times.

The fact that it's a vibrant democracy, the fact that people value education,

Indians are very very entrepreneurial

and all of that really gives hope for India and it's really respected.

I would say two things though, outside of all of this,

one is Bollywood,

the fact, when I did my interview with Shah Rukh,

more people knew me after that than anything I had ever done.

(Applause)

The second I have to say, is the traffic.

We have these YouTube videos which shows the traffic in India

and people who have never been to India, see that and ask me,

how are your self-driving cars ever going to move around in India?

I tell them, that's a really hard problem.

Sundar Pichai has said that our biggest resource,

people over the world think is our people. You and us.

This thing is very much respected. Our democracy is very much respected.

The two things that are.. People recognise Bollywood

and in our traffic, vehicles don't move.

We will try in the next 5-10 years, with the people resource that we have,

and technology, that wonderful people like Sundar will provide to us,

we make a promise that we will improve our traffic,

our roads and will make everything better around us.

I want to ask you --

So many Indians in Silicon Valley,

we keep hearing of their success stories.

What is it about Indians

that makes them click so well in Silicon Valley and in this field?

SP

I think it largely comes to --

most of us grew up with limited resources

and our parents sacrificed a lot.

They made the most of what they had

and gave us great education and great values.

I think that serves as an incredible foundation

and largely describes the success.

But to me it's not just Indians doing well in Silicon Valley,

but what is even more exciting is Indians are doing well in India

and from there, using India as a global stage.

I think that's been really nice to see.

SRK

Sundar has said that the values and education

given to us by our parents,

I think that really is one of the most important reasons

for success of our countrymen not only in Silicon Valley but all over the world.

That's a good thought and this is coming from Sundar himself

who has seen the world from very different eyes,

from a very different perspective that we can only imagine.

Taking his example,

many amongst you can become like Sundar Pichai.

Hopefully, God willing, one day.

(Applause)

I keep reading, I keep following you

and I find that you keep coming back to India,

visiting the villages here

and other townships and keep on trying to find out

how technology will have a profound effect

on the course of future India.

I would like to ask you, what you and your company are doing on that front.

One of the things I'm really excited by

is giving everyone in India one day a chance to carry a smartphone

with full connectivity.

I think doing that can make a really big difference in people's lives.

We are working very hard to make smartphones cheaper

and more affordable and something we are working very hard on.

We want to get it to rural India as much as possible.

So we have this program called 'Internet Saathi'

where we work with Tata Trust and we train women in rural Indian villages.

We have been doing this across hundred thousand villages

and 12 states,

and we have trained millions of women.

A story of one woman, Lakshmi-

once she got access to a smartphone,

she understood why the crops in her village weren't doing well

and she was able to find information and help make it all better.

I think, getting access to technology is a big thing,

and so we are really putting a lot of effort into it.

I think in the next five to ten years,

hopefully we can get over a billion people with access to a smartphone.

I think that can make a big difference.

SRK

Yes, really.

(Applause)

Sundar, it's called 'Internet Saathi' you said.

SP

'Internet Saathi'

SRK

As per Sundar, in the country

they are working with 100 thousand women,

in the villages, that each have a smartphone.

With the use of this app 'Internet Saathi'

they are able to solve their problems

and in the coming years, they want one billion people to have smartphones

and help people in rural India to understand technology

and use technology to improve their lives.

OK, Sundar, you are running perhaps one of the biggest companies,

so some questions on leadership all the youngsters would like to know.

One of the questions is,

what does it take to lead a company like Google in today's day and age

from a leader's point of view?

and --two things-- does it feel like a big responsibility

or is it the coolest job in the world?

(Laughter)

I'm not going to tell that my job is cool to a Bollywood star like you.

(Laughter)

But, yes, it's pretty cool, I love what I do.

I get to work with really smart people, to build great products.

I would say that leadership at this scale

is a lot more about managing people than everything else.

We have over 70,000 people.

So it's how do you bring the people together,

make sure they are happy, learn to work well together

and they are aligned towards making great things happen.

Leadership at this level is much more about managing and guiding people

than anything else.

Sundar says, "At this level, it is about managing and guiding people."

How to manage and guide people.

So my next question stems from that, Sundar.

You are a hands-on innovator,

but now, because of this managerial bit

and the strategic bit that comes with it,

is that more where you are in tune,

is that more fun than being a hands-on innovator

as you started off as?

SP

There is a lot of demand to spend most of my time on management,

I tend to travel a lot.

But still at the end of the day,

the thing I love the most is building products.

So I do try and carve out enough time and spend time every week

with my engineers

and we work on building new things.

I think that's the most important thing that I love to do.

SRK

Sundar still likes innovation more,

though managerial and strategic planning keep going on.

It's not more serious but stems from this only,

are you constantly innovating or trying to beat the competition?

You have to do both,

I understand that and respect that, when you are heading a company like this,

you are the CEO of Google.

So where is your priority?

Do you have issues like we have

like hitting the sweet spot, a kind of a balance?

SP

It's a very good question, we have to do all of that,

I try to go back to basic principles.

We constantly try to find problems which affect billions of people

and we try to see how we can use technology to solve it

better than anyone else.

To give you an example,

we knew people were taking a lot of photos on their mobile phones,

so we built something called Google Photos,

and it was how do we organise photos better for everyone.

We do it using AI, Artificial Intelligence

and we really make it work well.

So we always try to think about how we can use technology

to solve something better than everyone else.

So basically, Sundar is always trying to make life better.

Till this trial continues, competition will keep ending on it's own.

Can I try this? Can you follow me?

SP

Yes. I can't dance as well as you.

SRK

I'm not going to make you dance,

I want you to follow me so I can say "Sundar Pichhai followed me."

(Laughter and applause)

I want to tell you Sundar

that Google for all of us, mostly we think of it

as it started off as just a search engine which is completely wrong

and misplaced and a misconception.

What else Google as a company is doing, would you enlighten us a bit on that?

Today we have over seven products

that are used by a billion users each.

And as Shah Rukh mentioned 'Search',

be it, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Photos or YouTube,

we have also built products like Chrome and Android.

They are platforms, so others use it to build smartphones and computers.

We do many things across the company.

There is lot of stuff we are doing.

We might think, Google is merely a search engine,

but behind the scenes, with Sundar and his team,

Google is doing a lot of things we might not know.

But these people are working constantly in innovation and technology.

What is the future of technology according to you?

You are the best person to ask.

We have been hearing talks on Artificial Intelligence.

We've been hearing on Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality.

What do you think, we are going to leave for our children and grand children?

What is the future of technology according to you?

It is very exciting.

Today we use computers like we use smartphones,

but if you fast forward many years from now,

I think, computing and the world's knowledge will be there with you

wherever you go.

You get into your car, your home, maybe even on your body.

It will be there, anytime, waiting to help you.

I think that will be big.

But more importantly as Shah Rukh mentioned, with Artificial Intelligence,

I think for our grand children, we can solve many more difficult problems.

We can cure diseases which are tough to cure today.

We can tackle problems like pollution and climate change.

And so I think, we are working on AI, to really make a difference.

For me when I think about India, I think for our grand children,

any Indian will be able to speak to any another Indian

regardless of language.

You will be able to speak, and the other person to understand.

Those are the kinds of things we can do.

(Applause)

The most important thing Sundar said is that through Artificial Intelligence

any Indian of any age and at any place can speak to one another

because according to him, human connection is more important than any other.

Technology can go anywhere, but human connection is needed,

as it exists in our culture and tradition.

A lot of young people are here as you can see them,

a lot of young people at home who are listening.

Sundar, we follow your way of being.

We've read about him.

Always everything starts with an idea.

What is the secret to see an idea through to its end?

Do you have an idea worth sharing with us on Ted Talks India Nayi Soch?

Do you have such an idea --

because lots of people are going to watch this on TV,

an idea worth sharing from the one and only Sundar Pichai?

SRK

We'll not steal the idea,

Rather than an idea, I'll probably tell you,

I think the most important thing for the young generation,

I see people working very hard,

my advice would be for everyone to slow down.

Take the time to figure out something you are really passionate about,

'Dil Se',

find something you want to do from your heart and focus on that.

That's what will allow you to work hard and do great things in life.

So I would encourage everyone to challenge,

to find something from your heart to do that.

And above all, technology is truly transformative.

I'm a technology optimist.

I think technology will make a big difference for India.

And more importantly, I think

India will make a big difference for technology at a global scale.

So I'm really inspired.

(Applause)

We asked him, does he have an idea worth sharing?

I think, he told us something important,

that the young generation is in a rat-race.

Let's do this, let's do that.

So take a step back and think what is your passion.

Where does your passion lie? And choose that field.

You must use technology, because that is the future.

Both these points are important. Those listening at home, keep it in mind.

Sundar is very busy, he took the time out for us

Thank you once again Sundar, you took out the time for us.

And because he is busy--

(Applause)

I have two personal agendas, but I will talk work first.

I want a Selfie with Sundar, which I have to do.

I'm not going to force him to show the six-pack.

We'll do the six-pack when I come to California next time.

You and I both now.

SP

I thought you had an eight-pack.

(Laughter)

I will search on Google if I have a six or an eight pack.

Google will tell me.

Honestly that was great fun.

Many people wouldn't believe I had a six- pack.

I went to his office and showed it

and then everybody believed it is real

and not done digitally or through technology.

So thank you for that, Sundar.

Any message for the curious young Indians?

From North to South, East to West.

One parting message to the young curious minds in India

I would say, keep doing what you are doing.

All of us from the outside are so excited about India.

We see so much potential. Please stay the course.

I look forward to see you all in India very soon.

SRK

Thank you so much Sundar.

(Applause)

Sundar Pichai at 13,000 km, with the help of this technology,

is talking to us, without any lag.

Such technology will keep increasing.

One day he will be amongst us.

Before we leave, Sundar can I stand in front of you?

SRK

Am I blocking this? SPNo

SRK

I am not blocking, Ok?

So if I say left, you go left.

SP

Yes. SRKOh lovely.

So we can do a dance.

(Applause)

SRK

OK, One, two, three, four--

And I will give Sundar my arms Ah ha ha ha ha ha

(Applause)

SRK

Thank you so much.

Absolutely wonderful, inspiring and thank you so much

for taking time out and being here amidst us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the biggest round of applause,

and we try to see how we can use technology to solve it

better than anyone else.

SPYes. I can't dance as well as you.

SRKI'm not going to make you dance,

SRKWe'll not steal the idea,

SPI thought you had an eight-pack.

SRKThank you so much Sundar.

(Applause)

Sundar Pichai at 13,000 km, with the help of this technology,

is talking to us, without any lag.

Such technology will keep increasing.

One day he will be amongst us.

Before we leave, Sundar can I stand in front of you?

SRKAm I blocking this? SP: No

SRKI am not blocking, Ok?

So if I say left, you go left.

SPYes. SRK: Oh lovely.

So we can do a dance.

(Applause)

SRKOK, One, two, three, four--

And I will give Sundar my arms Ah ha ha ha ha ha

(Applause)

SRKThank you so much.

Absolutely wonderful, inspiring and thank you so much

for taking time out and being here amidst us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the biggest round of applause,

for the one and only, Mr. Sundar Pichai.

Thank you very much, Sir.
